I went and watched an open mic on Monday, over at Angel's Landing on South University.  Broncos home game, so the place was dead.  Learned that they prefered solo acoustic acts, so gotta get some songs ready on the Martin.  Which really gives a lot of options.  Blackbird, Dust In The Wind, Wanted Dead or Alive, and Signs are all ready, or close to performance-ready.

As such, this week was focused on the acoustic song practice.  Did some scales warmups but didn't do much picking exercises.

Put some fresh strings on the Martin -- a set of phosphor bronze light Martin strings that I have a 3-pack of.  Definitely shinier than the strings that've been on there for a month.  I had some issues with the high E string, but I figured that I didn't put enough of a kink in the excess at the tuning peg hole, so it was slipping back through whenever I turned the peg.  Glad I caught that before I lost the string.

Got a new amp this week -- the Jet City JCA22 has looked like a good way to get more tones out of my playing, and it bumped from $420 to $250 new.  So I snagged one after eyeballing it for months, since the next point from a 40% price drop is for the amp to be discontinued.  I'm waaaay behind on the practice jar now, so I need to focus on practicing and not on gear.  Which I seem to tell myself every other week.

Also news, I started singing recently.  Good gosh it isn't something I'm all that used to, but open mic as a solo guitar player doing covers ... eh ... guess I better.  I'm most comfortable singing Blackbird, and have sent a recording to a couple friends.  Dust In The Wind is coming up fast, and Signs is getting practice as well.
